This 4th annual event is sponsored by Safe Kids Wake County, WakeMed, City of Raleigh Fire Department, City of Raleigh Police Department, and City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources.
Safe Kids (www.safekids.org) is a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children. More than 600 coalitions in 23 countries reach out to local communities with injury prevention messages. We began in Wake County in 1996 with WakeMed as our lead organization.
This event is free and will feature many interactive displays and fun games on childhood injury prevention and safety. We need volunteers to help with setup and break down and also to staff the educational displays on medication safety/poison prevention, water safety, teen driving/getting ready to drive, fire safety, and sports safety.
No previous experience is required, there is printed information to hand out along with stickers and tattoos for the kids. Our goal is teach everyone we interact with something new about kids safety.
