Beautify the Park's Rain Garden (Afternoon)

Opportunity Summary

This activity is part of the 9/11 Day of Service. We will be working on 200 linear feet of a forested rain garden. We will also plant 2 large dog wood trees. We will plant 10-20 native grass clumps along the side slopes.  (More Details...)

Details

Volunteers will be stabilizing the side slopes of a large rain garden at Umstead State Park, rock-lining the side slopes and installing an innovative side slope holder to help keep the rocks. They'll also help with planting native mthly grass & trees and weeding in butterfly gardens. Lunch will be served at 12:30!

Rain Plan

Project is a go until very heavy rains. If the project needs to be cancelled due to bad weather, it will be cancelled the night before and posted to http://umsteadcoalition.org

Parking Info

Take the Harrison Ave entrance (Reedy Creek Entrance) to William B. Umstead State Park. Exit 287 off I-40.
There is a large parking lot at Reedy Creek Entrance, William B. Umstead State Park. Sign-in and project is within the parking lot area.
