The mission of Benevolence Farm is to provide an opportunity for women leaving prison to live and work on a farm where they grow food, nourish self, and foster community and to create a more equitable, just, and nurturing world for women and communities they transform.
In the last year and a half, Benevolence Farm has acquired a team of staff members, however our HR policies and procedures are lacking. We would like a human resources professional to evaluate our current HR system, help us flesh out and add structure to our policies and procedures, and create a more comprehensive employee handbook for the organization.
The Project: Human Resources Consultation

The project will result in the following deliverables:
- 1-2 page document recommending structural improvements, policy and procedure improvements
- An action plan and timeline with steps to make these improvements
- A comprehensive employee handbook
This project would make a significant impact on our ability to serve our community/residents! Enhancing and implementing our human resource policies and procedures will provide security, structure, and communication among a team of dedicated, hard-working staff who often work independently from one another in varying aspects of the organization. In addition, the time, energy, and resources this will save our staff can be utilized in fundraising efforts which are crucial as we work to open our doors to residents in April 2016. Taking excellent care of our employees is a priority and having sustainable infrastructure in place will benefit the entire organization now and well into the future.
