After much consideration, Activate Good has decided to put our annual fashion show fundraiser, Couture for a Cause, on hold. We have had many wonderful, fun years of hosting Couture for a Cause, but despite the popularity the event reached, it carries an extreme cost in both time and money for our relatively small organization. At least for now, we have determined we cannot put further resources into the fashion show until we can improve its return on investment for our cause. For these reasons, Activate Good will not be holding the Couture for a Cause fashion show in 2017. We will take this time to assess the event to determine if it is something we can afford to continue in future years.
In the mean time, we’re introducing Shop for Good, a streamlined event we feel will be more likely to yield the results we need to support our mission. Don’t worry – Shop for Good will be an equally fun way to support Activate Good and local charities! If you were a past attendee, fan, designer, photographer, model, donor, or other part of Couture for a Cause, we hope you’ll redirect your support to Shop for Good. Here are a few ideas on how to do just that:
1. Be a Vendor at Shop for Good on December 2
Are you a past Couture for a Cause fashion designer, nonprofit partner, or small business owner with a crafty enterprise? Apply to be a Shop for Good vendor! We’re seeking vendors to sell a variety of goods, from clothing or jewelry (past designers – your beautiful designs are welcome!), to home goods, to tasty treats! Simply complete our online application and select what percent of your sales you’d like to donate to one of our nonprofit partners. Accepted vendors will pay a nominal vendor fee, but you keep the proceeds and give the designated portion to the Nonprofit Partner you chose.
2. Donate an item for the Shop for Good Online Auction
The Online Auction portion of Shop for Good kicks off Black Friday (November 24) and runs up until our live event on Saturday, December 2! The Online Auction is a fun way for folks to support our cause by bidding on great items from your mobile phone or computer, no matter where they are. Help us give bidders something to swoon over by donating an item or service! Check out our auction item wish list here, and contact Darcie Smith at email@example.com to discuss your donation!
3. Sponsor Shop for Good
Support the Shop for Good event with a sponsorship! Contact Courtney Hamm at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to discuss the possibilities.
4. Attend Shop for Good’s Day Market / Shop for Good at Night
Join us on Saturday, December 2 (times TBA) at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh to peruse and shop for unique items offered up by nonprofits and other vendors, with proceeds benefiting these local causes! Then, as the sun sets, Shop for Good will transform into a festive evening affair at Marbles Kids Museum. Shopping will continue through the evening event, paired with an open beer and wine bar, hors d’oeuvres, music, silent auction, and entertainment. Ticket sales open soon! Join the Activate Good mailing list to get updates on this event and our other adventures.
5. Bid in the Shop for Good Online Auction
Whether you’re out and about or hanging out at home, you can bid and shop for your holiday gifts online from your computer or mobile phone this Black Friday (November 24) through December 2 – all to support a great cause! 100% of Shop for Good Online Auction purchases support Activate Good’s volunteer programs, which serve nearly 400 Triangle area charities and public schools. We’ll launch auction sneak peeks and bidding in November. Stay tuned!
6. Volunteer at Shop for Good
We’re not quite ready to open up volunteer sign ups, but we’ll post information on this website when we do. Keep an eye out!
We’re SO appreciative of the love and support Couture for a Cause has received since 2009, and look forward to continuing the tradition of having fun with you for a great cause through Shop for Good in 2017!
