Welcoming L&E Research to the Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council

Activate Good is excited to welcome L&E Research as the seventh member of the Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC). Amber Smith, Executive Director of Activate Good, comments: L&E Research, with its 30 years of market research expertise, will bring a new perspective to the Corporate Volunteer Council table. We’re excited to welcome them to the effort to bolster volunteerism in the Triangle alongside other industry and community leaders. L&E Research joins Red Hat, Wells Fargo, Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, CW22, Deloitte, and Fidelity Investments on the Triangle CVC. Making An Impact in Triangle Volunteerism Locally, L&E Research will partner with Activate Good to help fulfill their mission of making connections in the community, and making their panel of over 100,000 residents in North Carolina aware of Activate Good and the impact of volunteerism on our community. President of L&E, Brett Watkins, stated: We are very excited to be working with Activate Good. We have been looking for a charitable partner that would not only excite all of our employees, but also help us engage our database members to work with us to make Raleigh a better place. Corporate Volunteer Council Spotlight | Red Hat

As an Inaugural Member of Activate Good’s Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council, Red Hat is a dedicated collaborative partner with Activate Good that helps to shape our corporate engagement services and strategies to boost local volunteerism. Red Hat stands tall as a leader in the effort to boost volunteer engagement in Raleigh and the greater Triangle area! Activate Good’s Executive Director, Amber Smith, explains, “Time and time again, Red Hat has shown great support for Activate Good and our mission to bolster volunteerism in Raleigh and the Triangle. Since becoming a member of our Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council last year, Red Hat has given local volunteerism a boost through sponsorship, raising awareness of volunteer needs, and consistently sending enthusiastic volunteers to help out a number of our nonprofit partners.” It is always a pleasure to match Red Hatters as volunteers with our nonprofit partners, and they truly have made a big difference in our community by helping many worthy causes. Most recently, Red Hat not only collaborated with Activate Good to host the Evening Commemoration of our 9/11 Day of Service – Activate Raleigh 2013 at Red Hat Amphitheater, their staff also volunteered for day time projects. On September 11th Red Hat volunteers cleaned and organized the Helen Wright Center which provides safe housing to thirty-six women each night. Carol Schwartz, Outreach Coordinator for Urban Ministries, says, “Our shelter is shining from bottom to top, thanks to Activate Good’s coordination with Red Hat. Corporate Volunteer Council Spotlight | Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

Over the 40 years of its operation, Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q has had a long-standing history of community involvement and continues to raise finances and provide time and resources for a number of causes. Smithfield’s became the second North Carolina company to join Activate Good’s inaugural membership-based alliance, the Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council. The council is an opportunity for businesses to network with other corporations, bolster employee volunteer programs, and effectively contribute to volunteerism in Raleigh and the greater Triangle. Companies help in variety of ways—sponsorships, promotions, contributions, and employee volunteerism—to ensure the social health of communities. At Activate Good, we offer companies the opportunity to be a collaborative partner in volunteer engagement in Raleigh and the greater Triangle area. “One business supporting a local cause, or many causes over the course of a year, can only do but so much,” says Richard Averitte, Marketing Director of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. “But when you combine your corporate efforts with those of other businesses with a focus on corporate responsibility through an organization like Activate Good, the actual impact on our communities that we serve can grow exponentially.” Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q has been very active in sponsorships, contributions and volunteerism in the Triangle for years.
