When I think of Activate Good, I am reminded of a quote from the late N.C. State basketball coach Jim Valvano: “Every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people do extraordinary things.”
Activate Good welcomes Richard Averitte as Chairman of our Board of Directors.
Richard succeeds Charlie Chrisawn, who served as Activate Good’s Chairman since 2015. Richard has been a board member for almost a year already and has volunteered and supported Activate Good’s work for the last eight years.
Goals
- Strengthening our board through joint board-and-staff committees, building a more robust and diverse board, and launching an advisory board.
- Growing our sustaining donor program.
- Creating stronger bonds with our nonprofit and community partners.
- Strengthening our relationships with local school systems to encourage more student volunteerism.
A North Carolina native with deep roots in Raleigh, Richard believes community service is essential. He has partnered professionally and personally with a number of nonprofits, including Me Fine Foundation, A Note In The Pocket, A Place At The Table, Raleigh Rescue Mission, Women’s Center of Wake County, and more. He served as a judge for last year’s Teens Change the World Summer Program and has dedicated his time and resources to support Activate Good, particularly during the opening of The Good Hub POP UP this year.
Professional and Personal Life
In addition to his involvement with Activate Good, Richard serves as Vice-President of Marketing for Twickenham Holdings, LLC, a Papa Murphy’s Pizza franchisee. He lives in Raleigh with his wife Lisa and two children, Lucy and Felix. He’s an avid reader, loves movies, and is a huge Chicago Cubs fan (his daughter Lucy’s middle name is “Wrigley” after Wrigley Field!)

“As a long-time volunteer for Activate Good, I am excited about the opportunity to lead the Activate Good Board of Directors. Our organization provides a critical link to the nonprofits that serve our community and our citizens.
