Red Hat stands tall as a leader in the effort to boost volunteer engagement in Raleigh and the greater Triangle area!
Activate Good’s Executive Director, Amber Smith, explains, “Time and time again, Red Hat has shown great support for Activate Good and our mission to bolster volunteerism in Raleigh and the Triangle. Since becoming a member of our Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council last year, Red Hat has given local volunteerism a boost through sponsorship, raising awareness of volunteer needs, and consistently sending enthusiastic volunteers to help out a number of our nonprofit partners.”
It is always a pleasure to match Red Hatters as volunteers with our nonprofit partners, and they truly have made a big difference in our community by helping many worthy causes. Most recently, Red Hat not only collaborated with Activate Good to host the Evening Commemoration of our 9/11 Day of Service – Activate Raleigh 2013 at Red Hat Amphitheater, their staff also volunteered for day time projects. On September 11th Red Hat volunteers cleaned and organized the Helen Wright Center which provides safe housing to thirty-six women each night. Carol Schwartz, Outreach Coordinator for Urban Ministries, says, “Our shelter is shining from bottom to top, thanks to Activate Good’s coordination with Red Hat. They did a phenomenal job and even had flowers in the shelter for the ladies!”
Red Hat maintains a culture of collaboration and sharing, and thus, volunteering relates to Red Hat’s core vision “At Red Hat, our mission is to be the catalyst in the communities of our customers, contributors, and partners creating better technology the open source way,” said Becky Jacobs, Senior Director, Global Operations Change Management, Red Hat. “Red Hat was built on a software development model that contributes to the common good. We love seeing Red Hatters around the world putting their time and talents into being catalysts in their local communities and making a difference for those in need.”
At Activate Good we believe this culture is imperative in the corporate world, and we are thrilled to match companies with the volunteer needs of our 160+ nonprofit partners. Planning half or sometimes whole days for companies dedicated to giving back in the community is a trend that we are happy to see growing in the Triangle. This service culture is taking off in the workplace, and Red Hatters set the bar high. Red Hat selects projects and notifies its associates about several volunteer opportunities each year, and Red Hat also regularly sponsors team-building volunteer activities for groups or departments.
With a long-standing relationship with Activate Good as an Inaugural Member of our Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council, Red Hatters expressed that they believe Activate Good’s mission aligns nicely with their own. At Red Hat, they connect customers, partners, and other contributors to exchange ideas and co-create innovative technology that solves business problems. Meanwhile, Activate Good’s vision is to activate volunteers to help charitable causes in our local community. In order to accomplish this, Activate Good makes creative use of open source customer relationship management technology to connect these volunteers and their talents to nonprofit partners.
Red Hat’s tremendous support of local volunteerism and collaboration with Activate Good and other companies on the Triangle Corporate Volunteer Council is beyond appreciated.
