3 ways to help Triangle families this month
The pandemic has had a major impact on everyone since it hit last year, leaving some people without a job, food, or home. It has affected every family in a different way. Lots of working parents, especially moms, had to quit their jobs to provide care for their children and to help them with virtual learning, barely making ends meet.
COVID-19 may have distanced us socially but while doing so, it has also united and made us stronger as a community. In times like these, we need to come together and make a real difference. There are many ways we can help Triangle families this month.
With the current pandemic situation, we need volunteers now more than ever. There are families in need of food, basic supplies, diapers, etc. To meet the needs of Triangle families, we are looking for people who would like to come forward and help. One of the best ways to help someone is by volunteering your time.
Ronald Reagan once said, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone”.
Team up with Activate Good to help struggling Triangle families near you. Listed below are few projects:
Through Operation Big Bus Food Truck, 20,000 meals are delivered to hungry kids in Wake County every week. Volunteers are needed to help load the food boxes onto the YMCA bus and then ride with the bus to drop-off locations.
The “Big Bus Food Truck” program is a partnership between Wake County Public Schools, YMCA of the Triangle, Activate Good, and Wake County Cooperative Extension to ensure that school meals are delivered to children across Wake County who are not in school and are unable to pick up meals at the school distribution sites.

No time to volunteer but want to help? No problem! Operation Healthy Homes invites you to help by supplying Health Home Packs to families served by The Green Chair Project. These kits include cleaning and hygiene supplies for families in need. Just shop for the items listed on the Healthy Home Pack list, assemble the kits at home and drop them off at The Green Chair Project, easy peasy! Click HERE to read more and sign up now!
Help support students with their remote learning needs through the FAST Initiative. The Family and Schools Together (FAST) initiative supports our community with childcare. Our primary goal with FAST is to ensure that all families in Wake County have the support they need for remote learning during workdays. These staffed small groups and socially distanced learning centers provide physical activities as well as extended learning opportunities. Sign up now!
Lastly, if you wish to help but do not have enough time to volunteer, you can always help by donating. Remember, no amount given with love is ever too small. Activate Good’s monthly giving community or one-time donations support all of these programs; for more details visit our website and choose how you would like to DONATE.
