Boys & Girls Clubs are looking for mentors for our national teen recognition program where you will have the opportunity to serve as a role model for 7 months.

Youth of the Year is a youth recognition program for members ages 14 to 18. It promotes and celebrates their service to Club, community, and family; academic performance; spiritual values; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. Competition begins with each Club selecting a Youth of the Year who receives a certificate and medallion then enters the state competition. State winners receive a plaque and $1,000 scholarship then enter the regional competition. Each of the five regional winners receives a $10,000 scholarship and enters the national competition held in Washington, DC. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $15,000 scholarship, totaling $26,000 in scholarships, and is installed by the President of the United States.
As a mentor you will guide, assist, and coach your mentee in their essay writing, speech practicing, and interviewing skills while also receiving 1st hand experience in developing 21st century leaders.
Mentor involvement is required from September 2017-March 2018. There are no set day or time requirements, the frequency of meetings will depend on your mentee's progress(1-4/month). You will be required to check in with the volunteer coordinator at the end of every month to give a report of mentee's progress and to ask any questions or concerns you may have.
