Durham Litter Index

Keep Durham Beautiful

What You'll Do:

The Litter Index is a quantitative measure developed that is used across the nation to gauge roadside litter levels. The results of the litter index are used to determine the effectiveness of our litter campaigns and identify litter hot spots in the community where we can focus future cleanups.

Each year, Keep Durham Beautiful participates in Keep America Beautiful's national litter index. This involves sending teams out across the city to document the instances and amounts of litter they see. Durham's litter index is an important part of tracking our progress in keeping Durham Beautiful.

Haven't participated before? Don't worry! Each participant will be trained on how to accurately record what they find. Please make arrangements to stay for the entire time, and breakfast and lunch will be provided! Interested? Click on the tickets link above to be taken to the registration page. This event is free and open to the public!
