About Closing The Hunger Gap: The fourth bi-annual conference, to be held September 3-5 2019 in Raleigh, NC, will be the first Closing the Hunger Gap conference located in the South hosted by Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. This location provides an opportunity to examine the region’s history, current climate crises, as well as the construction of inequities that still exist today.
The three-day conference will address root causes of hunger, systemic and policy issues, and also a holistic path towards resiliency and justice. Through site visits, workshops, regional caucuses, and inspiring plenaries, we will learn from and challenge each other while we examine hunger at the intersection of climate change, race, and poverty.
