Details:

Baffles are installed in homes in the interior between the roof line/eaves overhang and outside wall soffit. They can be made of cardboard, metal, foam, or plastic.

At Habitat we believe that Energy Savings for our homeowners is an important part of providing affordable homes. By installing cardboard baffles the homes are more energy efficient which means smaller heating and cooling bills for the families. And reusing cardboard is a great way to reduce reusable materials going into landfills.

The baffles our volunteers make are longer that a typical baffle you can purchase. The length keeps more of the blown in insulation in the attic space. More insulation = more heat/cooling kept inside the house, not escaping out from underneath the eaves.

Requirements
-box cutters (for adults/teens that can safely use them)
-cardboard at least 35” X 35”
-twine/string/cord to bundle the baffles – we use about 50 baffles per home, it’s great if you can bundle them in sets of 50
-baffle templates (email us to get those!)
