What You'll Do:

Help the Read and Feed team by driving RV's, known here as Mobile Classrooms, to Wake County distribution sites to get books, meals, and school supplies in the hands of students. Please review the DETAILS tab (You will schedule times once you sign up).

The Mobile Classroom Driver drives our mobile RV classrooms into Wake County distribution sites and neighborhoods to deliver books, school supplies, and tutoring to underserved elementary school aged children. Mobile Classrooms are based at our office in Cary, NC, and travel to sites all over Wake County.

Key Responsibilities:
Drive RV to assigned site and park RV following all safety and set-up instructions (including securing of wheels and placement of orange cones)
Complete checklists prior to departure from office, during set-up and breakdown at program site, and upon return to office
Record mileage and anything of note regarding the RV (maintenance issues, site needs, etc)
Set up tables and chairs and stow them away after sessions
Return RV to Read and Feed office in Cary
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

Time commitment: 2-4 hour shifts during the school year, between 10am-6:30pm Mondays - Fridays. Approximately 24 weeks from Sept - May and 9 weeks from June - August.

Special COVID-19 precautions:
*Masks are required for all volunteers and students.
*Hand sanitizing will be mandatory upon entry and recommended periodically throughout the shift.
*Gloves will be available and encouraged.
*Please practice social distancing.
*Volunteers will be responsible for sanitizing surfaces at the end of their shift.
