What You'll Do:This role is vital to the operations of Family House. Most often a guest’s first interaction with the House, whether in person or on the phone, is with a Front Desk Volunteer. They greet all those who enter the House, answer the phones, input referrals, call guests on the waitlist, and give tours.
Must be 18 years or older
Details:- This particular role would be either evening (6pm-9pm) or weekend shifts
- Front Desk Volunteers start with 3 training sessions with experienced front desk volunteers
- Answer phones, greet guests, screen guests for COVID, work with House Manager to manage waitlist, refer guests to hotels if no room available, input referrals, give tours, make key cards, etc.
- Ideal volunteer has interpersonal and computer skills, can multitask, is willing to commit to one 3-hour shift/week
- Passion for helping those who are suffering from serious illness or injury and their families
Impact Statement:SECU Family House serves patients and families who travel great distances for treatment at UNC Health. Volunteers have helped make Family House “a safe, nurturing and affordable home” for the 26,000 guests served since opening our doors in 2008.
Parking Info:Free parking in our lot out front. If able, please park in the back so guests coming back from hospital can park in the front.
