2:30 PM- 4:30 PM- 4 volunteers needed

DETAILS: Bugg's garden walkways needs to be weeded, mulched, applied with Chapel Hill grit (a surface used for wheelchair accessibility) and we need your help! We will be splitting this work into two days. On the first day, we pull any remaining weeds out of the pathways, cover all of the pathways with landscape fabric, and shovel and spread mulch 2-3." On the second day, we will load wheelbarrows up with the Chapel Hill grit pile in our parking lot, cart the grit to the garden and spread in designated areas.

Please feel free to sign up for multiple shifts! We need all the help we can get.

PHYSICAL ABILITY NOTE: This job is physically demanding - volunteers will be asked to do a combination of bending over/squatting, raking, shoveling mulch and pulling wheelbarrows for the majority of each two hour shift. Volunteers are also welcomed and encouraged to take breaks as often as needed. Chapel Hill grit is heavier than mulch so we also recommend that volunteers be able to lift at least 40lbs multiple times over a two hour period if you would like to volunteer for day 2.

COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Masks must be worn at all times when on site (yes, even though we are outside!) This is a requirement of the elementary school. Social distancing will also be enforced. No more than 6 people at a time on site.

SUPPLIES: Please bring your own water bottle and face mask.
Garden tools and wheel barrows will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own garden gloves, we can provide some for you for the day if needed.

ARRIVAL DETAILS: Please come to the perimeter of the garden and sign in at the table. We will then provide further instruction.

This event will take place, outside, in the school garden.
