LGBT Center of Raleigh

What You'll Do:

Disability Alliance needs some help! We are looking for a new meeting facilitator and planner. Ideal candidate is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has a disability. This program meets virtually (for now) every 2nd & 4th Sunday of the month from 4-5pm.

Must be 18 years or older

Most of our programs are volunteer planned and lead. We have 5 initiatives that have several programs each. Disability Alliance is a program under our Queer Life Initiative. The program has been described as:

"The Disability Alliance aims to provide supports, services, and community to those who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies and have a disability. We create an inclusive atmosphere to solve problems and build a safe space for our members. Our experienced session leaders will provide meaningful topic conversations every two weeks that are applicable to our unique lifestyles."

Planning includes finding articles, topics or fun activities that are relevant to the community and creating discussion questions. Facilitation includes leading discussion or activities during meetings. Planning and facilitation can be done by one dedicated person or by splitting up duties between two people. If you can't help with both, but know others who might be interested, please leave that in the notes section when applying.

Ideal candidate is LGBTQ+ and has a disability. If not, candidate must have a good understanding of disabilities and be inclusive and affirming of the LGBTQ+ community.
