What You'll Do:Be a part of helping feed kids across Wake County!
Must be 18 years or older, or 8 years or older with parental supervision
Details:YMCA buses will pick up boxes of school meals from WCPSS cafeterias and deliver to neighborhoods and hotels all over Wake County. Each neighborhood/hotel will receive a delivery once per week. These deliveries will consist of weekly meal "bundles" that will have meals for that child for an entire week. Volunteers are needed to help load meal boxes from the school cafeteria onto YMCA buses, ride the bus to the delivery sites, distribute boxes to families at each site and return materials and leftover food to the school.
Volunteers will sign up to help at a specific school and will meet at that school to load the YMCA bus. See sign-up for specific school locations and addresses. You can sign up for a shift here: https://ymcatriangle.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/480
All shifts are from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. Some shifts may end earlier than 2:00p.m. but because this is a new process, we want to make sure you block off ample time in your schedule. Sometimes the bus may arrive at your school closer to 10:15a.m. If you don’t see a bus right at 10:00a.m., don’t worry!
Please check your sign up in Volunteer Matters to confirm the location where you signed up.
All volunteers will complete a COVID screening and temperature check upon arrival at the school site. The cafeteria manager will do this upon arrival at the school.
Please wear a mask, comfortable clothes and close toed shoes. You may also want to bring a water bottle and a rain jacket/umbrella depending on the weather.
No location specified.
Rain Plan:We will operate in rain or shine!
