Sept. 10 - The Salvation Army Coat Sorting and Organizing Event (Raleigh)

The Salvation Army of Wake County

What You'll Do:

We have a lot of coats to to sort, organize, and prepare for Distribution to community members in need from October through the cold-weather months. We need your help to complete this great task.

Appropriate for group service projects

Must be 17 years or older

Additional Requirements:

Please bring a great big smile and be ready to work and make a difference in the community! Please remember Safety at all times. You are important to us. You may choose to bring your favorite work gloves, water bottle, and dress for the weather.

Part of the Event:

Each year The Salvation Army gives away hundreds of coats to members of our community who are in need. WE assist men, women, and children by providing these coats that will help keep them warm throughout the whole cold-weather season. These are our neighbors and we want to continue to be a blessing to them. We have a whole lot of donated coats that must be sorted by size and type, organized, and prepared for Distribution starting in October and going on until the cold season is gone. We have to go through a lot of boxes, refill some of them, hang some of the coats, and get everything ready to start distribution. We will need some members of this group to be able to lift some boxes of coats (approximately 30-40lbs each). We will also be using hand dollys to move them around the facility.

Impact Statement:

Every year, there are men, women, and children in need of coats for the winter. Many of these children need them so they can go to school. As long as people are in need, we work diligently to assist them. You will be making a huge difference in their life
