Details:

Each year a select group of teens are chosen to be part of the American Heart Association's Teen of Impact campaign. Teens are chosen to participate because of their passion and ability to make a difference.

Nominees will take part in a six week competition, beginning on Friday, February 4, 2022 (National Wear Red Day) and ends on Friday, April 1, 2022. All nominees will engage their networks to form an impact team, set a goal, explore fundraising resources, and have a direct impact on the health of the Triangle community. Nominees will earn points for dollars raised and also by participating in heart healthy activities. This special group of teens will be celebrated for the overall impact they have on the American Heart Association’s mission and our local community. In addition, the teen who has the largest impact will be named the 2022 Triangle Teen of Impact Award winner.

Once selected, nominees and their parents will meet with AHA staff to set a goal and build a plan. AHA Staff will work with the nominees throughout the campaign to help ensure success. We know you are busy, so AHA staff will provide support with a website, talking points, and message templates. We're here for you and we want this to be a FUN experience!

Nominees will be provided the opportunity to:

1) Develop Leadership Skills - Motivate a team of your peers to work towards a unified goal and speak and present on a topic related to heart health to community members.

2) Engage in a Unique Opportunity - Take part in a series of experiences curated by the AHA specifically for the Teen of Impact class. Get an inside perspective on issues related to heart health that will leave you inspired to make a difference!

3) Participate in Networking & Mentoring Opportunities - Meet and work directly with leaders in the community. Ask them questions and get input on your campaign and your future!

4) Stand Out & Be Celebrated - Receive a letter of recommendation from the American Heart Association’s Executive Director and celebrate and be recognized for your accomplishments at the 2022 Go Red for Women Luncheon.

Impact Statement:
