Looking for volunteer opportunities in Raleigh, Durham, or around the Triangle? See our up-to-date list of needs from hundreds of local nonprofits.
We recently announced the launch of our new pilot volunteer initiative, Pro Heroes Month! Pro Heroes Month – April 2013 – is a month-long initiative to complete high-impact pro bono volunteer projects for participating nonprofit partners. It’s also a chance for us to highlight local professionals who use their skills (super powers) to volunteer.
Volunteer through Pro Heroes: How does it work?
Leading up to Pro Heroes Month, Triangle-area professionals are invited to check out and apply for a pro bono project of their choice as individuals or as a team. Activate Good works with interested professionals to ensure they’re a good match for the project for which they’ve applied. Once the match is confirmed, the professionals meet with the nonprofits they will be working with to plan the details, and get started! Professionals complete the projects by April 27, just in time to celebrate with us at the end of the month.
If you’re a local professional looking to get involved, there is a variety of projects to choose from for Pro Heroes Month. The different projects call for diverse skill sets, from graphic design, to legal consulting, to videography, marketing, web design, and more. Project sign ups are happening right now so the high-impact project work can start by the beginning of April.
If you or your company would like to participate in Pro Heroes Month but you’re not quite ready to adopt a project, there are a number of ways to show your support, including sponsoring the initiative, posting about it on Facebook or Twitter (hashtag: #ProHeroes), and helping spread the word by recommending projects to those with special skills in your professional networks.
