Remote Volunteer Project: DIY Tee-Shirt Toys for Adoptable Dogs

About The Project

This Remote Volunteer Project allows volunteers of all ages to upcycle a tee-shirt (or two) into a fabulous tug-of-war dog toy for a local animal adoption organization!

Remote Volunteer Project Instructions

Step 1:

Select a clean tee-shirt to upcycle. Lay your tee-shirt flat.

Step 2:

Using scissors, carefully cut three-inch strips across the t-shirt, from side to side, up to the sleeves and collar of the t-shirt.

Step 3:

Take six strips of fabric and tie them together in a big knot at one end.

Step 4:

Divide the six fabric strips into three sets with two fabric strips each. Braid the fabric strips together, leaving some room at the end of the braid.

Step 5:

Tie the end of the fabric strips into a big knot.

Step 6:

Pull the two ends of the toy tightly at the knots to make sure it’s secure!

Step 7:

All done? Drop off your dog-toy(s) to Second Chance Pet Adoptions on a Monday – Friday between 11 AM and 5 PM.
