Meet Trey Roberts

“As a Haliwa-Saponi native, growing up in my hometown I was surrounded by my culture. However, I didn’t take the time as a child to learn my ways to participate in my culture through dancing, drumming, or art.” Trey Roberts (He/Him/His) contributed the following story.

Living History

As I grew up and moved out of my hometown, I found Native people only spoken about in past tense as something that once was. It was important to me to utilize our resources to put my culture in the spotlight as a living history still being celebrated.

Land and nature are sacred for Indigenous communities and to spend time with Indigenous organizers to find ways to celebrate our ancestors and our community at Dix Park, where we once gathered and hunted, feels like an alignment of past and present.

Contributing to the Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow found me in the center of it all, curating space, and giving my culture a platform for all to experience and celebrate.

Solidarity Through Service

Solidarity Through Service is an impact campaign designed to bring people together across faiths and cultures through volunteer service. The campaign is in partnership with International Focus in recognition of “International Human Solidarity Day” declared by the United Nations General Assembly as December 20th.

Activate Good believes that acts of service are a vehicle for increasing empathy and understanding for people across differences. When we serve together, we are all helpers, united in solidarity by purpose – despite any differences in race, nationality, faith, or other factors.
