Estimated Time Commitment in April 2021: 1-3 hours

Skills Needed: The ideal volunteer will be confident in posting on social media and active on social media on any or all of the desired platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and / or LinkedIn).

What You’ll Do: Volunteers will use the pre-written Social Media Guide (provided after sign up) for the Big Bus Food Truck initiative and share and post messages about the need for volunteers to sign up to help unload 20,000 meals per week to kids in the Wake County community. Between April 1 and 30, the volunteer will post at least 5 times about the Big Bus Food Truck initiative and need for volunteers, including the sign up link to volunteer and call to action in every post. Additionally, volunteer must use #BigBusFoodTruck hashtag and tag @ActivateGood in each post.

How This Project Helps: Activate Good, the YMCA, Wake County Public Schools, and Wake County Cooperative Extension need to recruit 38 volunteers every week through June in order to be able to unload 20,000 meals each week to kids in need across Wake County. We need YOUR help getting the word out about this huge volunteer need, and encouraging people to sign up! By spreading the word about the need on social media, you can help extend our reach and attract more potential volunteers than we can on our own.

Estimated Time Commitment in April 2021: 1-3 hours

Skills Needed: The ideal volunteer will be confident in posting on social media and active on social media on any or all of the desired platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and / or LinkedIn).

What You’ll Do: Volunteers will talk to the organization staff and help craft messaging and share information about Aspiring Generations programs and their benefits to children and families in need and any upcoming special event dates with their professional networks! They will also alert people on their platforms of the importance of needed supplies to continue the program.

How This Project Helps: This project benefits underserved children and families. The need for this program is even greater during these unprecedented times – families have lost employment which makes it hard to supply everyday needs. This project is best for: Small teams of teens or families

Estimated Time Commitment in April 2021: 1-3 hours

What You’ll Do: Volunteers will visit our in-person display at the NC Museum of History about the supply chain of textiles; we will provide additional graphics related to the display; volunteers will then use the graphics we provide and their own insights from the display to share on their personal social media accounts, tagging Redress Raleigh. The display is family friendly, though teens and older will probably understand it best.

How This Project Helps: The textiles industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world. It is also notorious for human rights abuses. We work to educate and activate people to be advocates for positive change in the textiles industry. This display that we have at the Museum in April is a great opportunity for us to reach additional supporters both in person and virtually.

Skills Needed: Strong planning & communication! Volunteers in this role will spend the most time coordinating between Habitat for Humanity, their HOAs and / or spreading the word to neighbors.

What You’ll Do: Help us and your neighbors with a Spring Cleaning project! This project can be done with one person or a small group. You will be coordinating with the Triangle ReStores for a free donation pickup in your neighborhood in April. You and your neighbors will have donations ready to be picked up on a Saturday during a set number of hours. We will send our trucks and trained staff to load up your donations. Then we will take them to the nearest stores. We offer a free pickup on pre-selected dates throughout the year in Durham, Johnston, Orange, and Wake Counties. See a list of items we take & criteria on our website: https://www.trianglerestores.org/donate

Also: Sample email language for neighbors will be provided upon sign up.

How This Project Helps: By coordinating a neighborhood pickup you are increasing donations to the ReStores while saving valuable time and resources that can be better spent on supporting our mission of building affordable homes in our community. The funds raised by selling your donated furniture, building materials and household goods help us build more new homes each year after!

Skills Needed: Spanish Fluency, Writing

What You’ll Do: We want volunteers to create a social media / online campaign that will bring awareness to the Hispanic small businesses in Wake County of our expansion into Raleigh. The campaign must be in Spanish.

How This Project Helps: We are new to the Wake County area and our potential client targets have a difficult time finding us because of language and cultural barriers. The more visible we are the easier it is for them to find us and reach out to us. Our goal is to get Hispanic entrepreneurs to reach out to us so we can help them with their small business/start up needs. We offer in language webinars on topics that are relevant to entrepreneurs or small business owners. We also offer in language one on one consulting as well as help with access to capital. Everything we do is free of cost to them.
