Virtual Volunteering Isn’t Going Anywhere
The COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot of things, and it seems like some changes will stick around indefinitely. Many experts say remote work is here to stay. Telehealth appointments are so convenient, so it seems like many people will continue seeing their doctors virtually. How we watch movies might be forever changed (but I sure can’t wait to get back in a movie theater soon!). One thing we know at Activate Good: Virtual Volunteering definitely isn’t going anywhere!
Many of the ways we’re adapting to life with the coronavirus — some digital, some physical — will reverberate long after a vaccine or treatment returns life to “normal.” AARP
Virtual volunteering existed before COVID-19, and it’s a great way to help organizations increase their capacity, enjoy volunteering from home, and help your neighbors in need. Many organizations had to pivot because of the pandemic, and we saw our community partners get creative with the way they interact with volunteers. We want to celebrate the ways volunteers can improve their communities virtually. What’s a better time to do this than Volunteer Month!?
Global Volunteer Month
April is Global Volunteer Month! We think April is the best month of the year because it’s time to celebrate volunteers and encourage volunteerism.
Global Volunteer Month is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger, more vibrant communities, and to take action that changes the world. – Points of Light
