Kick off the season with kid-friendly service!
Held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving Day, Family Volunteer Day gathers families from across the Triangle to serve their community together.
Family Volunteer Day was founded by Points of Light to demonstrate the power of volunteering as a family. Locally, Activate Good brings together families from across the Triangle to foster their connections to community causes. Families leave with the desire to continue giving back in their community and resources to continue their commitment to local issues.
Adults and Children Learn and Serve Together
Activate Good uses our Learn and Serve model at Family Volunteer Day to promote:

Diaper Bank
Activate Good is collecting newborn diapers, size 1 diapers, and baby wipes for our community partner, Diaper Bank of North Carolina.
Diaper Bank of North Carolina is dedicated to increasing access and awareness of essential hygiene items to promote dignity, health, and quality of life for the people of North Carolina. With 1 in 2 babies experiencing diaper need, families across the state are making the difficult choice of buying diapers or other necessities, such as food or gas, with their limited funds. With donations of baby diapers, baby wipes, and other hygiene items, we can support families across the state. Book Drive
Activate Good is collecting new or gently-read books for our community partner, Book Harvest, to go to babies & children up to age 12.
- board, picture, nonfiction, or chapter books
- books that reflect the diversity of our community
- books that children and families will be proud to own
Since 2011, Book Harvest has provided over 2.3 million books to families, ensuring that parents have the tools and power to ignite and strengthen their children’s literacy. With programs that are grounded in evidence, Book Harvest believes that literacy starts at birth, in the home, powered by parents, and nourished with books.
