Activate Good is proud to be a President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) Certifying Organization. The PVSA is one of the nation’s highest honors for volunteerism. This prestigious award, an initiative of AmeriCorps and administered by Points of Light, acknowledges the profound impact that dedicated volunteers make in strengthening communities and inspiring others to serve.
About the Award
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is a distinguished civic honor presented by the President of the United States to individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to volunteer service. By recognizing those who give their time selflessly, the PVSA highlights the power of volunteering.

Eligibility Requirements
✔ Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
✔ Age Requirement: Open to volunteers aged five and older.
✔ Service Commitment: Must complete eligible volunteer service within a 12-month period for Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards, or over a lifetime for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Who Can Apply for the President’s Volunteer Service Award
Service hours must be unpaid and benefit others, such as community projects, nonprofit initiatives, or other meaningful causes. However, certain types of service may have restrictions:
- National service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) that provide a stipend may count only toward the Lifetime Achievement Award but not the annual awards.
- Minimal support (such as travel stipends, transit/parking passes, expense reimbursements) does not affect eligibility.
