A fresh coat of paint can do more than brighten a wall—it can uplift a community, inspire students, and remind us of the power of collective action.
From April 20-26, during National Volunteer Week, Activate Good brings volunteers together to create vibrant murals at Wake County schools as part of the organization’s eLOVEate Schools Project. These murals will serve as lasting symbols of hope, encouragement, and unity, transforming everyday spaces into sources of motivation for students and educators alike.
Turning Small Actions into Big Impact
This isn’t just about painting walls—it’s about creating welcoming, inspiring environments where students can thrive. Every brushstroke represents a commitment to fostering creativity, connection, and a sense of belonging in our schools. Volunteers will bring these murals to life and learn about the importance of art, education, and community engagement in shaping the next generation.
Countless Ways to Give Back
The mural project is just one of many opportunities to serve during National Volunteer Week 2025. Across the Triangle, hundreds of local nonprofits are opening their doors for volunteers to support causes that matter—providing meals, mentoring youth, revitalizing public spaces, and more. Whether you have an hour, a day, or a full week to give, there’s a way for everyone to get involved and make an impact.
Join the Movement
Activate Good’s National Volunteer Week 2025 projects will take place at Neuse River Middle School and Carver Elementary School, where volunteers will work side by side to turn blank walls into works of art that inspire and empower. These projects are supported by generous sponsorships from Microsoft, Towne Bank, and UNC Health, as well as the dedication of local changemakers committed to leaving a lasting impact.
Since its launch in 1974 by Points of Light, National Volunteer Week has been a nationwide movement celebrating the role of volunteers in strengthening communities. Here in the Triangle, Activate Good and our 600+ nonprofit partners are working to engage individuals, businesses, and organizations in meaningful service opportunities that create real change.
