Family Volunteer Day
Kick off the season with kid-friendly service!
Held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving Day.
Family Volunteer Day gathers families from across the Triangle to serve their community together.
Family Volunteer Day was founded by Points of Light to demonstrate the power of volunteering as a family. Locally, Activate Good brings together families from across the Triangle to foster their connections to community causes. Families leave with the desire to continue giving back in their community and resources to continue their commitment to local issues.
Adults and children serve and learn together to gain:
- new knowledge of community needs
- understanding of their fellow community members
- empathy and feelings of connection.

Space is limited, so parents/caregivers must register for the shift of their choice prior to the event. Choose 1 of two shifts in the buttons below.

Location, Parking, and Routes
Venture Hall at Marbles Imax. The City of Raleigh Christmas Parade will be the same morning as Family Volunteer Day. City owned parking decks are available free of charge the morning of the parade.

Price
This is a free event, held at Venture Hall.
However, admission into Marbles Kids Museum or Marbles Imax is not included. Tickets for Marbles Kids Museum are not sold onsite and advance admission tickets are required.
Directions and Parking
Marbles Kids Museum is located in downtown Raleigh, NC. No free parking is provided by Marbles. The City of Raleigh Christmas Parade will be the same morning as Family Volunteer Day. When You Arrive
Venture Hall is located in Marbles Imax. You do not need to enter the Marbles Kids Museum. Find Venture Hall on the campus map.
Admission
This is a free event! However, admission into Marbles Kids Museum or Marbles Imax is not included. Tickets for Marbles Kids Museum are not sold onsite and advance admission tickets are required.
Rain or Shine?
Yes! This event is indoors.
Each Family Volunteer Day, a collection of items needed in the community is held. Families are invited to bring items to donate and Activate Good will handle distribution to local causes!
Items to donate
Help provide books, socks, and undies for local children!
- Socks and Undies Drive: Activate Good is teaming up with our community partner, Note in the Pocket, to host a Socks and Undies Drive. Please help to fill their mission of clothing Children with dignity and love by donating NEW socks and undies in original, sealed packaging. All sizes are needed – toddler to adult!
- Book Drive: Activate Good is collecting new or gently-read books for our community partner, Wake Up and Read, to go to babies & children up to age 12.
