Welcoming our next Executive Director
Activate Good’s leadership is excited to announce that Rose Thompson, formerly Activate Good’s Senior Programs Manager, will transition into the role of Executive Director of Activate Good effective May 1, 2024.
After nearly two decades of dedicated service and leadership, Amber Smith, Founder and Executive Director of Activate Good, will depart from the role at the end of May, working to onboard Rose Thompson over the course of the month. This transition marks a new chapter for both Amber and the organization as it continues its mission to inspire community action in the Triangle region.
Rose Thompson engages volunteers in one of Activate Good’s Learn and Serve projects (September 2023).
As Amber seeks new opportunities to make a positive impact, her legacy remains a vital part of Activate Good’s foundation: “Launching and growing Activate Good has been a great honor and joy in my life. Our team is passionate and strong, and I’m excited to see how the organization continues its amazing impacts!”
“We are incredibly grateful for Amber’s strong vision of doing good through volunteerism, and her 10+ years of leadership as Activate Good’s Founder and Executive Director,” shared Olivia Ecker, Activate Good’s Board Chair. “During this transformational time for Activate Good, the Board of Directors is very excited to welcome Rose Thompson, current Senior Programs Manager, as the new Executive Director of Activate Good. Rose brings 10+ years’ experience at Activate Good and recently completed her Nonprofit Management Certification at Duke University. She brings a vision that will honor Amber’s legacy and a passion to build upon that foundation to continue to do more good in the Triangle for years to come.”
“Improving our community and empowering volunteer action is at the heart of our team’s work, and our team is full of heart. I am looking forward to honoring our Founder’s legacy and furthering the vision of our resilient nonprofit that has been at the forefront of countless, collective impacts across the Triangle over our years in this work together,” says Rose Thompson, incoming Executive Director. “We will miss Amber and know her next chapter will surely be amazing! My driven team and I will continue to carry transformative volunteerism forward.”
The organization assures all stakeholders that operations, projects, and programming will continue seamlessly during this transition. As Activate Good embarks on this new journey, its Board of Directors and Staff remain steadfast in its mission to create a world where everyone realizes and acts on their potential to bring about positive change.
